Lauraleigh Hungerford

Therapist

Lauraleigh Hungerford has been part of the Serenity Knolls team since September 2023, currently serving as a Therapist. Holding the title of a Registered Psychological Associate, she obtained her Master’s Degree in Counseling with an emphasis in Community Mental Health from the California Institute of Integral Studies in 2015. Furthering her academic pursuits, she embarked on a journey towards a Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology, having completed all coursework by 2020 and currently in the final stages of her dissertation.

With a career spanning back to 2006, Lauraleigh has been deeply involved in Residential Treatment, culminating in her recent role as the Associate Division Director for Catholic Charities in San Francisco. In this capacity, she oversaw various programs including an 8-bed Short-Term Residential Treatment Program, a 40-bed Group Home, and an Equine Therapy Program. Notably, she dedicated 14 years to the Eagleson Equestrian Program, providing equine-facilitated psychotherapy to individuals, groups, and families within the Foster Care, Juvenile Hall Probation, and Office of Refuge and Resettlement departments.

Lauraleigh brings a wealth of training and expertise to her work, aiding individuals and families in achieving diverse therapy goals. She specializes in assisting those navigating through addiction, trauma, depression, and anxiety. Lauraleigh holds Level 1 certification in Hakomi, complemented by an additional certificate in Dharma of Trauma, an approach rooted in mindfulness and somatic interventions. Furthermore, she is on the cusp of completing a certificate in Innate Somatic Intelligence Trauma Therapy Approach through Embodywise’s training program, an extension of her commitment to holistic healing practices.
