Highly Trained, Tenured Staff

Tish Rutledge, AMFT

Therapist

Tish has worked at Serenity Knolls as a therapist since 2021, during which time she completed a Master’s Degree at Hazelden Betty Ford Graduate School in August 2022, and then earned an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC) license. Her education specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of co-occurring mental health and addiction disorders. Prior to Serenity Knolls, Tish completed two semester internships at Pura Vida, working as a drug and alcohol counselor. Since graduation, Tish has specialized in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for trauma, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). In addition to carrying her own caseload, Tish works with all clients who have an interest and need for EMDR.

Tish grew up in Los Gatos and Santa Rosa and currently resides in Marin County. Prior to returning to graduate school, Tish earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and worked as an executive in human resources for 32 years. She decided to retire from this career given her passion and purpose she found helping those with addiction and mental health disorders. Tish has enjoyed sobriety herself since 2016 and is dedicated to helping clients find relief from active addiction and mental health symptoms. Tish is passionate about twelve-step programs and supports clients through the discovery of their own path to sobriety.

Tish’s work is client-centric. She meets clients where they are with respect, positive regard, and dignity. Tish strives to be culturally competent, and one of her great joys is leading the weekly LGBTQ+ group at Serenity Knolls.

Tish has a love for nature and animals and currently resides with her partner, cat, and dog. She enjoys stand-up paddleboarding, hiking, cycling, and most of all traveling. Tish feels that working at Serenity Knolls with our clients and amazing staff brings her joy, purpose, and happiness.
